“Every year the woman of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future… This is known as fashion week.” – Carrie Bradshaw
In two weeks today I will be leaving the past behind and looking forward to the future… This is known as 'starting a real grown up job'.
I think that it is for this exact reason that I feel I am “ready-to-wear” (excuse the pun) a lot of the collections showcased at New York Fashion week thus far. I’m not sure if it’s just because I have “work appropriate” wear on the brain or if the collections are actually more work appropriate. Victoria Beckham’s entire collection would be absolutely perfect for a cool winters day in the office. Dion Lee also put forward an office savvy collection, with some garments comprising of grey pinstripe and collaring.
And I cannot go past mentioning Karen Walker – the go-to designer for all those sartorially knowledgable corporate woman on this side of the hemisphere and beyond. Her most recent showcase would definitely not disappoint.
As a side note, if the streaker at Prabal Gurung is anything to go by, trench coats and leopard g-strings may also be appropriate for fall, although don’t try wear the latter to the office. (Thankfully the streaker did not detract from his gorgeous collection).
New York Fashion week is still not over. Cannot wait to see what's to come.
