For the duration of last week I was stuck in bed with what can only be described as a bad case of the Spring flu. Not having to get dressed properly all week lead me to assess my less than pretty sleeping attire (which for the duration of the week was the only thing that I wore). In a stroke of good timing, a few days earlier I had received the MAE by Willa & Mae look book in my inbox (for their debut collection Breathless). I had always considered that my old tee and daggy trackpants would suffice until I saw this collection. Not anymore. There's definitely something to be said for beautiful sleepwear, and the beauty of this collection is that it does not (and should not) need to be confined to just sleeping.
The collection is comprised of generously cut button-down shirts, floor length shirts and slip dresses, and high waisted wide leg pants in a colour palette of black, white, blue, grey marle and stripe - The perfect combination of masculine and feminine. I feel like you could go to sleep in one of their numbers and wake up all like #iwokeuplikethis (arguably you would not even need to get changed for the day ahead). And for the coming Summer months, i could not think of anything better than a durable, sleepable, over-sized shirt/dress/pant that you could take from bed to beach to brunch. Ideal.
A couple of my favourite pieces from the collection are featured below, dispersed amongst some other stylishly sleepy images.
